On the 14th November, the Foundation Centre was delighted to host the 1,000th Student Celebration Event. The event was to celebrate the 1,000 students from between 1997 to 2014 who have successfully progressed from the Foundation Programme to complete an undergraduate degree at the University; some have even progressed onto postgraduate studies. The evening was held at the Marriott hotel in Durham, it included dinner, drinks and awards were presented by Durham University’s Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Ray Hudson to the most recent cohort to celebrate progressing onto their undergraduate degrees.
It was also an opportunity to acknowledge the extension of the Foundation Programme from the small beginnings at Queen’s Campus and which now extends to encompass all departments in Durham, the Centre has had a key role in helping open up the University to a broader range of entrants, both nationally and internationally. From 1997, 120 different nationalities from across the world have passed through the Foundation Centre doors.
The event received an excellent turnout from current students, those who have been through the programme and graduated, as well as staff members. The night was a lot of fun, it was great to catch up with so many former students. The photos from the event are now available on our Facebook page, click here to view the album. Well done to all 1,000 students and thank you to all Foundation staff members for their continuing hard work!
